Finchville Baptist Church is a Christ-Centered, Gospel-Driven, Faith Family that exists to lead others on the journey to becoming fully devoted followers of Christ for the glory of God among the nations. For more than 200 years this faith family, by the goodness and grace of God, has had the wonderful privilege of serving this community with the love of Jesus Christ. We are glad that you have decided to learn more about us through our website and would love to have you join us for any of our services. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us using the “contact” section.
More than anything we want people to meet Jesus. Jesus came to give us life, hope and joy and we want everybody to experience Him. Jesus’ message is called the Gospel—literally translated Good News—and this short video will help you understand what Jesus’ message is.

The natural result of being Christ-Centered is that we are Gospel-Driven. This means that we take seriously the words of Jesus found in Matthew 28:19-20 which says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Jesus’ last words while on earth are our first priority. We understand that the Church has been created to be the herald of Jesus’ Good News to humanity and with all our might and strength we want everybody to hear what Jesus has done for them whether they live in Finchville, KY or Fallujah, Iraq and everywhere in between.
When Jesus saves people He brings them into His family and His family is made up of all believers from every corner of the earth. Therefore, we understand that the Church is not a business, social club or organization but a family of faith whereby we live, love, serve, give and go together as a family. Furthermore, this journey of faith cannot be walked alone. We need one another! We need one another’s encouragement and support, prayers and guidance and we experience fullness in our salvation as we follow Jesus as a family united in our faith in Him.
We believe that, first and foremost, the Church is about Jesus. Our desire is that Jesus would be made much of through us as His people. Therefore, every decision we make as a faith family is centered upon Jesus. You will often hear people here say, “It’s all about Jesus!” and that is because it is. He [Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. Colossians 1:15-18 English Standard Version

You may be wondering what exactly is a connect group. To put it simply Connect Groups are our version of Sunday School. However, we try to be more than that we believe that Connect Groups are an important part of church life as they are a place to get connected to other members of the church in more than a Sunday morning “Hi, how are you?” kind of way. All of our Connect Groups meet Sunday mornings at 9:45 and we have a number of groups available for all ages.

If you would like more information about connect groups feel free to email Dustin Thompson, our Connect Group Director, at connect@finchvillebaptist.com

The theological study of the mission of the church especially the character and purpose of missionary work.

The mission of the church is found in the words of Jesus when He said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching then to observe all that I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:18-20) Everything we do exists to fulfill this purpose. Our Connect Groups (a.k.a. Adult Bible Fellowship classes) focus on one local mission/outreach event a quarter. There are many opportunities for ministry in Shelby Co. whether it be feeding the homeless, serving the forgotten, partnering with the school system to provide food and supplies to children, or teaching a second language. Our Missions Team keeps us informed of the needs in our community and leads us in doing whatever it takes to meet them. During the holiday seasons (Christmas, Easter, etc…) we participate in two special offerings known as the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering and also the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering. Both of these offerings are used to support called and commissioned missionaries who are telling the Good News of Jesus to people in our backyards as well as around the world. Finally, we have partnered with the LaVerne Griffin Youth Camp in Wasilla, Alaska and Hope of Life International in Llano Verde, Guatemala. We send at least one team to the Guatemala location every year.

Here are some links to some really cool mission agencies/organizations that we have either worked with or that have helped shape our missiological mindset.

With our close proximity to Interstate-64, Finchville is easy to find. In general terms, we are 6 miles south on Hwy. 55 at Exit 32 on Interstate 64 in “downtown” Finchville, Shelby County, Ky. We are only about 15 minutes east from the Gene Snyder (I-265) and I-64 interchange and about 20 minutes west from Frankfort. Once away from the interstate on the north, you will pass through scenic farm country. Take your time, enjoy the trip and relax.
From The North
(Shelbyville and I-64) Take Taylorsville Road south past Walmart & Lowes and drive over Interstate-64 (Exit 32), proceed south 6 miles to Finchville, where we are located on the right. You cannot miss us, but if you are at some flashing lights, you have gone several hundred yards too far.
From The South
(Taylorsville, Spencer County): Take Hwy 155 N to light, turn right onto Hwy. 55 North. Follow this road approximately 4 miles into Finchville. You will see flashing caution lights. The church will be on the left after traveling several hundred yards.
From The West
(Gene Snyder & Taylorsville Rd. Exit 23): Take Taylorsville Road (Hwy 155) east. Continue down the hill about a mile to the light marking the begining of Hyw 148. Go straight through the light onto Hwy 148 (Fisherville Rd.), crossing over Floyds Fork and another two miles into Shelby county. Continue about ten minutes to a flashing light. Turn left onto Hwy. 55 North and proceed about several hundred yards. The church will be on the left.
